BK Beauty Travel Brush Set Review
I’ve always loved collecting nice makeup brushes, so I’m happy to be bring yet another makeup brush review post to the blog after getting a chance to try out BK Beauty‘s Travel Brush Set recently! As mentioned in my previous posts on Sonia G brushes, my skin is quite sensitive, so for a long time I’ve just been using traditional fude brushes because those are often the softest brushes out there. But I’ve been keeping an eye out and looking for good vegan and synthetic brush alternatives too. As technology and production for synthetic brushes continue to improve and become more sophisticated in recent years, I’m glad that more options for those looking for alternatives exist now. So without further ado, here is my BK Beauty Travel Brush Set review!
About BK Beauty
For those new to the brand, BK Beauty is a cruelty-free and vegan cosmetics brand founded by former MAC Cosmetics trainer and YouTube creator Lisa J Makeup. I’m always excited to check out brands created by beauty professionals, because in a sea of new products and launches, you just know that given their experience and knowledge, they will have a dedicated focus on the usability of tools and products that they develop, and I’m always full of anticipation to see what they do.
BK Beauty Travel Brush Set (5pc)
The BK Beauty Travel Brush Set includes 5 travel-sized brushes and a vegan leather brush pouch in oxblood red. The set includes 2 face brushes and 3 eye brushes, covering the essential brushes needed for a full face makeup.
- T101 Contoured Foundation Brush
- T107 Flat Blush Brush
- T202 Defined Crease Brush
- T203 Shader Brush

The brush pouch is a good size, with dimensions at 7.5″ x 4.5″ x 1.5″ or 19cm x 11.5cm x 4cm. It’s lightweight and very handy for a short trip or event, enough to hold most necessities you may need to pack in a makeup bag.
BK Beauty Makeup Brushes Review
Compared to the original BK brushes, the travel versions have shorter handles and feel extremely lightweight.
The sizes and balance are great, and the fibers are not prickly at all despite being synthetic.

Unlike natural hair brushes, synthetic brushes can be used with both powder and liquid/creme products and I love that flexibility. It’s just a matter of finding those that are soft enough and not prickly on my skin. And these are fantastic.
Here are some closeup detail shots of the foundation and eyeshadow brushes:
As you can see from the closeups, the hairs are cut pretty tapered to soft ends, similar to traditional natural hair brushes.
In my testing, the crease brush blended my eyeshadow very smoothly. I also find it to be a really great size for an eyeshadow crease brush because it’s not overly large but big enough to still be a multi-tasker. Making it usable both on larger and smaller eye shapes and sizes.
The blush brush did not feel prickly or scratchy on my face at all!—An issue I sometimes encounter even with natural hair brushes. The brush head is on the larger end and not too dense, similar to the foundation brush, so it’s fantastic for softer applications. The only thing is that since the brush head is on the fluffier end, it’s not as suitable for creme products. I was thinking that perhaps their 106 Round Foundation Brush would be a good candidate for creme blushes and bronzers if you need something for those.
Overall I feel that BK Beauty’s brushes (or the travel set brushes, at least) are super beginner-friendly. The pickup and blending are easy to use and everything work great. Softness is just the right amount for the job too.
BK Beauty Brushes Thoughts and Conclusion
As far as vegan brushes go, BK Brushes are definitely a new favorite! The brushes are made with very high quality finish, and the resulting touch and feel are comparable to natural hair brushes in the same price range.
If you were to put me in a blind test, I don’t think I could have easily known that these were synthetic brushes.
If given the opportunity, I would love to try their smaller and denser brushes, for more control and different types of usage and applications. Final conclusion is that they’re worth it and very lovely! Definitely recommend checking them out if you love nice brushes.
