I discovered Dr. Lara Devgan’s Platinum Lip Plump as part of a Net-A-Porter-curated Summer Beauty Kit, fell in love with it so much that I wanted to write a review about it right away. That edit had a stunning selection and this was one of the highlights that really blew me away.

I have tried a good number of lip balms and masks over the years, and my favorites include Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask and Omorovicza’s Perfecting Lip Balm. But this one remains an everlasting favorite with a few differences from those two.

Available at $50 a pop, it’s a pricey spend. Read on to see whether it’s worth it.

Does it work? How is it different?

Unlike many other lip care products, Dr. Lara Devgan’s Platinum Lip Plump has SPF30, which makes it great for day-wear.

And something surprising that I discovered only through daily use—it’s not in their marketing language anywhere–but this lip plump exfoliates my lips super well?!

It makes my lips extra extra soft. That makes it so special and a holy grail for me immediately.

As a lip plump, I will say that while it added a naturally flushed pink to my grayish-purple lips—and that’s really beautiful—but unfortunately in terms of plumping itself, I didn’t see any dramatic results. I think those kinds of things only work if you already have a larger lips? I haven’t ever had a lip plump that worked, so if these things tend to work for you, they probably will, if not, you might be in the same boat as myself!

Definitely a holy grail item in my book despite the downsides. Yes, it’s very pricey, but well-worth the price if you want to prep your lips for an extended few days or weeks to have them look extra soft and beautiful!
